When the father falls down the ladder into a paint bucket and is covered with yellow paint and the brother tries to flush the shoes of all family members down the toilet, then you have enough ideas to write and illustrate a book. Kids' Own Publishing and writer Mary Branley in association with Roscommon County Library have been helping groups of children write, print and bind their very own books based on their family histories. On Culture Night the libraries of Roscommon, Boyle, Castlerea and Ballaghaderreen will exhibit this work and provide an evening of workshops, readings and interactive activities.

What does the inside of an artist’s studio look like? How long does it take to paint a painting? How do you mix a CD? Members of the public can take a bus trip round to a number of different artists’ studios in the Boyle and Roscommon regions. There are two trips in the course of the evening from each town. This unique opportunity to take a glimpse behind the scenes of the artist’s workplace is not to be missed.
