Irish National War Memorial Gardens

A Walk and Talk tour in the Irish National Memorial Gardens including Voices of Memory a contemporary remembrance of the more than 49,000 Irish people who died in WW1 created by internationally renowned German artist Christina Kubisch. Almost the entire list of these names was read by volunteers of different ages and accents from across Ireland. Kubisch has not intervened much in the recordings other than to vary the density rhythm and flow of names in the sound Installation. Along with breaks of silence the composition includes sounds of underwater recordings made in the Liffey. The tour includes a rare opportunity to view Ireland’s Memorial Records 1914-1918 on site.
